Archers’ League
Our flagship program Soar Schools is a facilitated Journey for school improvement that allows for creativity, engagement and collaboration as the school community comes together for student support and development.
In every school and every community, ethical creative servant Leaders are rising!
They defy the odds and are the shapers, influencers and path-finders. Guides that raise the bar, change the narrative, challenge beliefs, value systems, behavior, attitudes and status quo. Always righting wrongs near and far. They don’t blindly follow, they lead; breaking their peers free from all the shackles of a defeatist culture. They create a new normal and redefine possibility. THEY ARE THE ARCHERS THAT DO NOT MISS THEIR MARK
Through the archer’s League, student leaders will benefit from In-person and online training designed to accelerate their ability to become, create, lead and drive lasting impact. They will have ongoing training, mentorship and projects. Our hope is not only in their empowerment, but in full and enlightened engagement and participation. Without intentionally creating opportunities for engagement, the genius and talents of our young people remain untapped. Therefore, Annually, the Archers will take part in a competition at the school, district, regional and national level geared towards bringing enthusiastic and innovative youth leadership and talent to impact the age-old problems in our communities. After high school/ college, recommended and outstanding Archers will take part in an intensive residential experiential training camp, and thereafter take responsibility as mentors and overseers of school-based programs as they continue to journey with fellow Archers, and Admirals. All Archers shall be trained and skilled in the art of communication (mainly debate, persuasive writing, and speaking) leadership and influence.
Admirals
Because every great dream deserves great support, we are building a ripple of support where every young leader can thrive!
Leadership, especially creative ethical leadership is a lonely journey for many; but it doesn't have to be. As we call them higher, our youth deserve a great community propelling them to greater heights in a world with very few positive influences, and encouragement. Our goal is to break the cycle of destitution and abandonment, take the limits off and enable students to dream beyond their poor families and communities to new possibilities.
We envision the admirals to provide a reference point as an aspiration and inspiration for the Archers and other young Ugandans and Africans. The Admirals are people who have lived transcendent lives. People who have used their resources, talents and gifts to positively influence our reality. Those that perfectly controlled their inner fire and shared it with the rest of the world. With the responsibility to mentor and raise next generations, we give the Admirals something to aspire to that is beyond all that comes with titles and fame; something money can't buy. Outstanding Archers will be able to advance to being Admirals.
Through the admiral, the Archers have a great opportunity of learning from experts and practitioners near and far. The Archers have the wisdom, experience and shoulders of some of Uganda’s best to launch from.
Soar Educators
Imagine educators who recognize, nurture and celebrate the unique potential of students, not try to push them through the same mold. Educators committed to equipping lives to be agents of transformation. They are Soar Educators!
Transforming the next generation of leaders requires equipping their teachers. This is specifically true in a country where teacher development resources are very rare, and most teachers go through a whole career without any further training. Our teacher development approach goes beyond teaching and classroom management strategies to equipping teachers as change-agents, mentors and support system for students. We give our well meaning teachers a pat on the back, and help them be the educators they want to be as well as the skills to be the moral compass and role models our kids need. They also have the privilege of community and collaboration across schools and districts. We have witnessed this program rekindling solidarity and unity of purpose, shared opportunities, resources and collective achievement among schools.
Audacious
Audacious is an annual event whose purpose is to redefine the heroic as we highlight and celebrate those among us who boldly and ethically rise to the occasion of creating solutions, and leading change! It will be a reference point for our society as well as have a ripple effect of hope, courage and service. It is the call to ‘come up hither” and harness the wind beneath your wings!
Audacious will also have excellently crafted and delivered learning sessions which will provide an exceptional opportunity for changemakers, educators and student leaders to connect, learn together, share best ideas, strategies, programs and projects that improve experiences and outcomes.
Emikago
Emikago is a bantu word that means covenanted friends, companions.
Our work has brought us to an unmistakable realization that across all sectors and backgrounds are young leaders with dreams, ideas, aspirations grappling around; trying to leave a mark and make the world a better place. Unfortunately, like research has shown, a staggering majority do not live to see any fruit of their labor, nor the second birthday of their striving. Because their vision and impact matter immensely to our world, we seek to avail our community and support to enhance their continued growth and strengthening. As our people say, a stick pulled from the fire soon dies, no matter how hot it was.
At SoarAway, Emikago are courageous, unrelenting changemakers committed to personal growth, and impact. They have a track record of creating and serving and a desire to connect with, and water others on the path of ethical creative leadership.
Emikago journey together and hold each other accountable; for passion and genius are like fire. When controlled it creates magic and when not, it destroys. That which gives us light, can also be blinding to the eye. Woe to him who is alone when he slips or falls! Journeying with like minded people positively impacts their growth, effectiveness and productivity, motivation and personal fulfillment.
